10 Directions For New WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar

7. A Gradual Turn

Brock Lesnar has become one of those wrestlers who defies conventional alignments. Sure, he technically plays a "heel", but he’s a very difficult guy to root against. Brock is so undeniably good in his role that a huge section of the audience are always going to cheer for him, so it almost doesn’t matter whether the company try to label him as a villain or not.

That said, the most compelling booking options for Lesnar’s Universal Title run are almost all against heel opposition. Thus, it’d make sense for WWE to gradually push Brock towards a monster face role. People love cheering for him, and the only thing the company need to do is start pairing him up with wrestlers they already boo rather than popular babyfaces like Rollins and Bálor.

'The Beast' was getting monstrous reactions after losing his WWE Championship to Rollins at WrestleMania 31, which proves that he can be successful in such a role. He doesn’t need to tone down the destruction, and Heyman doesn’t even need to curb his natural smarminess. Just keep treading the same course against bad guys rather than good guys, and the pops will get louder every week.
