10 Disturbing WWE Storylines That Got Way Too Dark

3. Kane & Lita

Kane deserves a medal for some of the nonsense he has put up with throughout his WWE career. He’s one of the best big men in wrestling history, and a surefire Hall Of Famer, but he has been part of some of the worst storylines in the company’s history. We’ll get to the absolute worst later, but Kane and Lita’s romance is definitely near the top of the pile.

Lita was in a relationship with Matt Hardy in spring 2007, but Kane had taken a fondness to her. She found herself stalked and harassed by the Big Red Machine on a weekly basis, and things reaching a boiling point when it was revealed Lita was pregnant. Matt Hardy was not the father, however: Kane was, and at that point, it was safe to assume that the conception probably wasn’t entirely consensual.

This led to a “Death Do Us Part” match between Kane and Hardy, and if Kane won, he’d get to marry Lita. He was victorious, the duo were married on Raw, and somehow, things got even worse a few months later.

Lita was by now heavily pregnant, and Kane was feuding with Gene Snitsky. Snitsky pushed Kane into his pregnant bride, Lita suffered a miscarriage, and that’s when the story hit its darkest point. WWE have run a handful of miscarriage angles in the past, but this was probably the grimmest, particularly given the suggestions of rape and torture.

Brutal, uncomfortable viewing from start to finish.
