10 Dream Wrestling Matches That Were Huge Disappointments
2. Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar - WrestleMania XX
No matter how anticipated, how promoted or how legendary a match seems on paper, sometimes it's just doomed from the start. Given how monstrous and dominant Lesnar and Goldberg were in their runs, it only made sense for the two titans to meet before all was said and done, which they did at Wrestlemania XX. Due to an internet leak it became apparent that both men were leaving the company immediately after the match, which made the crowd turn on the match before it had even started. The abuse from the audience clearly bothered both men, throughout. Even if the information hadn't leaked, it just wasn't a good display of wrestling. Bill Goldberg had always been a competitor who looked impressive in the time-span of a few minutes, but after ten or so, his inexperience as a wrestler becomes much more obvious. Not only that, but Lesnar didn't seem that monstrous when against a man of near his own size. After a boring and slow ten minutes, Goldberg won with the Spear/Jackhammer combo to win the match. Special Referee Steve Austin then layed a stunner on both men and celebrated with a beer, much to the joy of the crowd. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9D0h8K2feg Goldberg and Lesnar had potential, but none of it would be seen in that awful display at Wrestlemania XX.
