10 Dumbest Things WCW Did To Sting

4. WCW Turned Him Heel

Sometimes a star is so beloved by the fans that a heel turn just€™ doesn't work. It happened with Steve Austin after WrestleMania X-Seven and The Rock after WrestleMania XIX. Some guys were just born to be cheered. Sting was one of those guys. That didn't stop WCW from trying. By 1999, €œHollywood€ Hulk Hogan was dead and buried. €œHulkamania€ was reborn, as he started wearing the classic red and yellow gear.

The run, which was supposed to be his last, led him to the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. After Sting started to question Hogan€™s trustworthiness, the two met in the main event of Fall Brawl. The match played out with everyone expecting Hogan to pull out his old tricks, but the two fan favorites kept it fairly clean until things got out of hand.

After interference from DDP, Bret €œThe Hitman€ Hart, Sid, and Lex Luger, Sting grabbed a baseball bat and took out The Hulkster. He slapped on the Scorpion Deathlock to the unconscious Hogan and the heel turn was in the books. It™ didn't work out so well.

The fans continued to pull for the face of WCW and the role of Sting as the antagonist was aborted after only two months.
