10 Dumbest Things WCW Did To Sting
3. The Human Torch Match
Gimmick matches in 2000 didnt stop at Lumberjacks with Casts. At the height of Stings feud with Vampiro, WCW booked its own take of the famous Inferno Match. Just so we are on the same page, I should probably give you some insight as to who Vampiro is. Vampiro is a Canadian wrestler and hockey-loving former bodyguard for Milli Vanilli. You would never know that though because the guy dressed like a he was in a punk band and painted his face like a zombie, which somehow had something to do with vampires.
The best thing about Vampiro was that he spoke like a regular Canadian dude. He didnt put anything extra on his voice to make the character intimidating. Naturally, in 2000 WCW, he was in a heated feud with Sting.
A series of matches ensued involving graveyards, gallons of fake blood, and Vampiro repeatedly calling Sting by his real name, Steve. That natural progression was a Human Torch Match at The Great American Bash. The battle was fierce, making its way to the top of the WCW video-tron as the two wrestlers attempted to douse each other in gasoline while the lights flickered to mimic lightning indoors.
After some back and forth, Vampiro lit Sting and when I say Sting I mean a stuntman dressed as Sting on fire. The flaming human being sailed off the video wall and onto a crash pad in the entrance way. Vampiro went on to feud with The Insane Clown Posse shortly thereafter.
