10 Elimination Chamber Participants Who Never Stood A Chance
8. Randy Orton
(Triple H Vs. Goldberg Vs. Chris Jericho Vs. Shawn Michaels Vs. Randy Orton Vs. Kevin Nash - SummerSlam 2003)
Five world champions and one man who'd never had a pay-per-view match before.
The faith Randy Orton was shown when he was put in the Elimination Chamber at SummerSlam 2003 for his PPV debut is unmatched, even if he was just there to fill a pod. He'd go on to great things, winning this match type himself in 2014, but for now he was there to make up the numbers.
This was peak Triple H goes over WCW's biggest and brightest. He'd seen off Scott Steiner, Booker T, and Kevin Nash in the months leading up to this, with Goldberg the next in line for the shovel. Orton was there as Triple H's Evolution buddy but was gone long before the Game's pod opened.
It was a serviceable debut for the future Viper, however this match was simply all about the last two entrants. Sure, Kliq partners Shawn Michaels and Nash also had issues with Triple H in 2003, but even they played second fiddle here. It's just a shame that the rise of Goldberg was over before it began; as Ric Flair slid a sledgehammer to the World Heavyweight Champion the writing was on the wall.
Orton did get to take part in the beatdown of Goldberg after the match, but in terms of chances in the bout itself, zilch.
