10 "Epic" Wrestling Rematches That Sucked

10. Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar (WrestleMania 29)

One of the biggest and highest profile matches on the WrestleMania 29 card was the war between Brock Lesnar and Triple H. Billed as a Street Fight, some were hoping for a brutal, violent match that allowed both industry giants to play to their strengths while delivering a match of epic proportions. Others, like yours truly, simply hoped the bout did not suck as hard as the slow, boring main event from SummerSlam months earlier. As it turned out, no matter how great The Game and The Beast Incarnate may have been, their first showdown was a real clunker, a match that never really got on the right track, thanks in large part to Triple H's inability to work a match that best suited the character and style of his opponent. It was overly long and focused on an arm injury, leading to Lesnar scoring the submission victory with the Kimura arm breaker. With the opportunity to avenge his loss while simultaneously improving upon the original, the showdown at WrestleMania 29 would prove an important one for Triple H. Unfortunately, The Game made the same mistake at WrestleMania, trying to work a match that better suited his style than that of his opponent. The Street Fight was lethargic and failed miserably to inspire the crowd. 80,000 fans watched as the two Superstars delivered a match that was more "meh" than epic. Did it suck nearly as much as the other matches on this list? No, which is why it ranks as low as it does. But there is no denying the fact that two high profile stars wrestled what should have been an epic rematch at the Showcase of the Immortals that should have improved upon the lackluster original but, instead, inspired "meh" instead of awe.
