10 Most Epic WWE Smackdown Moments
Smackdown has entertained us for 15 years. Time to look back at some epic moments.
WWE Smackdown recently turned 15 years old without much hype or attention from WWE at all. That's nothing new because Smackdown has felt like WWE's "B" show for a very long time. It started as a weekly show on Thursday nights in August of 1999 as a complement to Monday Night Raw, which started in 1993. Raw is the live show while Smackdown is taped on Tuesdays. It was originally aired on Thursday nights, but they moved it to Fridays in 2008. Recently there were reports that suggested that it might go back to Thursday nights this year. Apparently that's not happening this year. Maybe in the future. When the brand extension started in May of 2002, it made Smackdown more of a must see show. The idea was that some wrestlers were only on Raw while others were only on Smackdown. They weren't on the same show unless it was a PPV event and for a few years they even had brand specific PPVs aside from the four major ones. For that first year, Smackdown was clearly the better show. That was in part because Paul Heyman was booking it. If you saw his DVD, though, you know that he got fired partly because Smackdown was beating Raw in the ratings and that wasn't something WWE liked. It's an odd thing for WWE to think since both shows were theirs, but that's how it was. During the last 15 years, there have been many great moments in the history of Smackdown. Some of them involved epic matches, others were promo segments and some of them were unique match endings. There's actually a WWE poll asking about these moments. Some of the stuff mentioned there is on here, but not all. Here's a look at ten of the most epic moments in WWE Smackdown history.
