This is being written on September 11, so with that in mind it's hard not to think about what happened in WWE that day. They were all set to tape Smackdown that Tuesday night in Houston when the news of what happened in New York, Washington & Pennsylvania broke that morning, so WWE decided to postpone the tapings until Thursday September 13, 2001 meaning it would be a live Smackdown. WWE Chairman Vince McMahon stood in the ring to tell the crowd that the spirit of America lived there in Houston, Texas. He mentioned that America's leaders wanted them to live their lives normally and that WWE was sending the message that they will not live their lives in fear. There were loud "USA" chants throughout the show as there should have been. http://youtu.be/VWqpzBeAADE One of the more memorable moments that night was when Lilian Garcia sang the American national anthem as WWE's superstars stood on the stage in unison. You could see the tears in their eyes. It meant something that night and it was great for the fans to see WWE's superstars do their thing for the fans that were hurt that week. It was one of the most memorable shows WWE has ever done, but it's also something that we hope to never see again in terms of how serious it was and why it even took place.
