10 Examples Of Triple H Being Ridiculously Selfish At WrestleMania

8. Triple H Playing Such A Prominent Role At WrestleMania XIV

Not only did Triple H have a match with Owen Hart on this PPV, but he played a role in the main event as well. By the time WrestleMania XIV came about, Owen Hart was the only member of the Hart Family still employed with WWF; the others had all left following the Montreal Screwjob. Rumor has it that this match was heavily influenced by the backstage politics being played by the Kliq, which allowed the Hart/HHH match to go downhill. Instead of it being a simple one-on-one match, Triple H allowed his then-girlfriend Chyna to get involved in the match. By being handcuffed to Sgt. Slaughter, she ended up helping HHH escape Owen€™s Sharpshooter, and used some white powder on Slaughter, causing a convoluted finish. In the end, her interference allowed Triple H to attain the victory, which could be interpreted as a veiled insult at the rest of the Hart Family from the Kliq. In the main event, Triple H and Chyna interfered on Shawn Michaels€™s behalf, albeit only for a few short minutes before being sent to the back by the referee. Why did they have to be there? Why couldn€™t Michaels just face Austin by himself without any interference? It seems like Triple H€™s close friendship with HBK, and by extension their influence on Vince McMahon, allowed the Game to take part in the main event, despite not being an official entrant. Though it€™s a small issue in the grand scheme of things, it creates the image that Triple H has an ego of his own, and that he needs to be featured more prominently.
