10 Familiar Faces AEW Should Sign

Yes, as stated it isn’t clear if Shelley is going to be a full-time wrestler again. But does it really matter if he isn’t “full time”? Just having a few big rematches from the past decade or so of tag team wrestling in the indies would be a huge draw. Young Bucks, SCU, Jack Evans and Angelico all have a history with the Motor City Machine Guns and would put on amazing matches together. And they aren’t the only ones that have history with the pair.

So does the prominently featured Shawn Spears, having been an alumnus of the Can-Am Wrestling School during his time with BCW, right around the same time as Sabin and Shelley. The ties are definitely there, beyond just sharing a ring in ROH or TNA.

Plus Shelley’s Twitter makes a point to list him as a free agent, and he has tweeted that “one of the perks of being a free agent is this: I can do whatever I want. One of the perks of having a career in PT is this: I can do whatever I want.” Certainly seems like someone who values flexibility.

There could be a good reason why neither Sabin or Shelley have ever been in the WWE, instead consistently choosing TNA and ROH. They are faces of the independent scene. And AEW is the perfect mix of exposure, flexibility, and “doing whatever” he wants in-ring and out of it as well while still feeling like the king of the indies. Which bodes well for a Motor City Machine Gun reunion on TNT.
