10 Familiar Faces AEW Should Sign

2. Aron Stevens (Damien Sandow)

The artist formerly known as Damien Sandow was one of two shocking releases from WWE back in 2016. He even became a top 5 Twitter trend in the US shortly after. Another strange case of WWE not knowing how to push a wrestler despite being beloved by fans. Sandow stated in a Rolling Stone interview that “there are guys that are in the main event that don't get cheers like that” and this is true, especially in a landscape of WWE where big stars are scarce to come by and even harder to create.

After a short stint with Impact Wrestling as Aron Rex and subsequent departure afterwards, it looked like Damien Sandow was destined to be another potential star lost to the bad booking of WWE.

That is until he returned to the ring on 18 July, this time dropping Rex (thankfully) and re-debuting as Aron Stevens. At the Battle Arts Pro Wrestling show, Timothy O'Connor took the loss in Stevens’ first match in 2+ years. Once again, the common theme here is timing.

Not appearing in a larger promotion in the US like ROH and instead choosing to go to Canada could show he is shaking the ring rust off for something new. And there is nothing newer and hotter in the world of wrestling right now than All Elite Wrestling.

The other previously mentioned shocking release from WWE in 2016 may be joining him as well.
