10 Fan Favorite Wrestlers Who Will Never Get Their Big Breakout Match
5. Marty Scurll
Scurll is one of the most unique, visually engaging, and technically sound wrestlers in the world. He's even set for a one-on-one banger against Kazuchika Okada at ALL IN.
But, unfortunately, New Japan will never run with him as a top guy, and it's unlikely ROH will either. The Juniors division in NJPW is so stacked that even with Hiromu out hurt, Scurll was lucky to be named one of the four guys in the upcoming title tournament to crown a new champ. (A tournament that will no doubt end with a stunning KUSHIDA/Ospreay rematch.)
In ROH, Marty has a better shot of being a top guy, but again, with Jay Lethal, Cody, Daniels, Dalton Castle, and others around, he's unlikely to break into that upper echelon unless there's a big Bullet Club push behind him.
No matter how many fans woop-woop and flap their arms for him, he's simply no company's first choice for The Guy.
Tide yourself over with: ANY of his matches against Ospreay, his title match against Travis Banks in WCPW, or his match against Zack Sabre Jr. from PWG's 2015 Battle of Los Angeles event.
