It was obvious from the get-go that Bray Wyatt had something good going with the Fiend, no matter what WWE did to try and destroy it. After defeating Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia, many assumed that he would carry the big blue belt into WrestleMania.

This was apparently the plan for a long time. Wyatt would hold the title until the show and would challenge the originally-penned Royal Rumble winner Roman Reigns in the night's closing match. So what happened? Quite a lot!

Firstly, the Rumble was changed so that Drew McIntyre walked out victorious, leaving Roman to find his own way into the Universal Championship match. Then Wyatt was set to face Goldberg at Super Showdown where he was set to retain against Big Bill, but Goldberg apparently engineered things so that he beat Wyatt, winning the title and defeating the monster, so he looked like a superhero in front of the younger fans. In reality, he looked like a backstage-politician halting the momentum of a younger talent for his own gain.

The match was then changed to Roman vs. Goldberg for the title after the Big Dog declared himself as "next". There was a full programme built including contract signing, but at the 11th hour he pulled out due to serious health concerns. Roman was replaced by Braun Strowman, who ended up felling Goldberg for a long-overdue Universal Championship reign.
