Whenever Michael Cole or Paul Heyman draw attention to the sword tattoo on Brock Lesnar's chest, just remember that it was inked out of spite towards WWE. Brock revealed this in his autobiography, but has rarely mentioned it during media appearances.

Having just left WWE in 2004, Lesnar wished to wrestle in Japan for NJPW but was blocked by the McMahon family threatening legal action over his no-compete release clause. Feeling like he had a sword pushed up against his throat by someone he previously admired, Brock decided to get the tatt in honour of this period in his life, something that's ironic now given where he works.

Even more ironic, Lesnar himself admitted he would prefer to forget that time, although he does still use the anger he felt as motivation to succeed. Brock must be one of the only members of the WWE roster to sport a tattoo claiming the company to be cut throat.
