The Hart/Luger double-elimination was an exercise to see who the crowd in Providence would favor, as each would be separately announced as the winner. Before that popularity contest could begin, it was crucial that Hart and Luger make the finish as even as they possibly could.

For WWE's part, director Kerwin Silfies had apparently instructed the cameramen to avoid that side of the ring, to make sure that no camera definitively caught the ending (in case one of the two truly did hit the floor before the other).

It was a risky spot, but there were two pros executing it. Hart notes in his autobiography that in the two-way tumble, it was Luger that was responsible for how they angled over the ropes for the final fall, since Luger's back would be pivoting off the top rope. Hart would say, "...it was a testament to (Lex's) skill and professionalism that it came off so well."
