8. Kevin Dunn Was Reportedly The One Who Pulled Jim Ross From The Rumble's Announce Team
Kevin Dunn catches a lot of heat from fans that know very little about him, outside of, "He's said to wield a lot of power and sway," "He turned WWE into something we don't like," and "Jim Cornette said he's a Bucky Beaver-looking motherf--ker, and he wasn't kidding." Even then, some of those statements are subjective.
According to Figure Four Weekly, Dunn made the call to not have Jim Ross be on the three-man team that called the Royal Rumble match. Ross had to sit out along with Tazz and Joey Styles while Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler, and JBL called the big finale.
F4W noted that WWE and Dunn viewed Cole as the "heir apparent" to Ross at that point. Considering that Cole took Ross' chair on Raw a year-and-a-half later, the grooming process was obviously ongoing.
