10 Fascinating WWE Royal Rumble 2017 Facts
4. Chris Jericho Became The Sixth Man To Top The One Hour Mark
Surely, whoever booked 46-year-old Chris Jericho to last more than one hour in a physically-demanding match made The List. Coming in at the number two spot, Jericho survived deep into the 62-minute marathon, coming in fourth place.
Jericho's official time in the match was 13 seconds past a full hour. That gave him the fifth longest duration in history, beating Ric Flair's historic 1992 performance by 11 seconds. Ahead of him are, in order, Rey Mysterio (2006), Chris Benoit (2004), Bob Backlund (1993), and Triple H (2006). Had he lasted exactly two more minutes, he'd have broken Mysterio's record of 1:02:12.
It should be noted that Jericho did take some obvious "siestas" during the course of the match, but that's understandable. Lasting even 20 minutes in a Rumble without a break can be a grind, and Jericho deserves credit for his performance, no matter how many powders he took.
