When WWE's fortunes drastically turned around in 1998, it seemed the company could do no wrong. Steve Austin was the hottest property in the business, perhaps in all of media, and fans hardcore and casual couldn't get enough of the WWE product. Attendances saw a huge boost throughout the year, and Survivor Series was no exception.

The event wound up officially bringing 19,322 fans to St. Louis' Kiel Center. According to The Wrestling Observer, by 21 October of that year (25 days before the pay-per-view), 12,644 seats had already been sold. That netted WWE about $351,000 in advance money. Ultimately, the event ended up bringing in $470,845 in ticket sales and nearly $150,000 for merchandise.

These days, stories of pay-per-views having good seats still available the weekend of the show run more rampant. Back in the Attitude Era, sell-outs were much more the norm.
