10 Fascinating WWE Survivor Series 2016 Facts
5. Shane McMahon Was Legitimately Injured
When WWE implores to kids, "Don't try this at home", they obviously mean anything they do that's physical. For a spot like the one involving Roman Reigns and Shane McMahon, they oughta add, "especially this", with heavy emphasis.
McMahon was due to be eliminated after an attempted coast-to-coast dropkick on a prone Reigns, only to be speared in mid-air by the rejuvenated 'Juggernaut'. It would've made for a memorable visual and, well, it did - the part where Shane was staring into the void, anyway. Intricate timing was needed to do the move as safely as possible, and unfortunately, they were a hair off.
Reigns caught McMahon high on the spear, apparently bonking his head with Reigns' own shoulder, compounding the issue when McMahon splatted awkwardly on the canvas. McMahon would ultimately be okay, appearing on TV days later, but avoided doing anything physical. The moment was also notable for Randy Orton dropping kayfabe to go over and reassure Shane's children, seated front row, that their Dad was okay.
