10 Finishing Moves That Never Made It To WWE
6. Finn Bálor - Bloody Sunday
Back when Finn Bálor was Prince Devitt and a "Real Rock 'n' Rolla" in New Japan Pro Wrestling, he used his lifting single underhook brainbuster, the historically titled Bloody Sunday, as his primary finisher. He garnered multiple IWGP Junior Heavyweight and Tag Team Championships with the move before eventually winding up in NXT in 2014.
While both Devitt and his finisher would require retitling, the Bloody Sunday remained intact, rechristened as the similarly politically-charged 1916 - although no longer used as a finisher. While AJ Styles assumed ownership of the Bloody Sunday as IWGP Champion back in Japan, Bálor began to use a diving double foot stomp, the Coup de Grace, to end matches.
After becoming the longest-reigning NXT Champion in the brand's short but storied history, Finn was called up to the Raw roster in 2016. While the 1916 endured in name in Bálor's repertoire, it had in actuality morphed into a lifting reverse DDT, completing its full transition to consignment into WWE finisher history.
