10 Finishing Moves Too Awesome For WWE

3. Shinsuke Nakamura - Boma Ye

In professional wrestling, less is often more. This might be a strange concept to Shinsuke Nakamura. Nakaumura has had a variety of nicknames over the years, everything from 'The King of Strong Style' to 'The Child of God' to simply 'Swagsuke', and almost all of them have fit. Nakamura might just be the coolest professional wrestler on the planet, and if you aren't familiar with him you need to stop reading this and head to YouTube immediately.

His finisher is devastatingly beautiful in its simplicity. Called the Boma Ye, it is simply a running knee to the face, or the back of the head, depending on the position of the poor fool taking it. That is really all there is to it.

The name is an interesting one of course, and while I'm not sure of its origin a cursory google search tells me that 'Bomaye' means 'kill him' in Lingala, a Congolese language. It was shouted by the audience at the Rumble in the Jungle in 1974, as they bayed for Muhammad Ali to kill poor George Foreman.

Boma yeeeeeeeeeee!

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
