10 "Foreign" Wrestlers Who Were Actually Born In America

2. Bret Hart

"What?!" you're likely shouting, spitting Molson all over your computer screen as you knock your bowl of poutine to the floor. "Bret Hart's as Canadian as Celine Dion doing a show on Victoria Day in Moose Jaw!" Of course, that's true; Bret was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, and he still lives in the city today (though he smartly spends winters in Hawaii). He spent decades representing the country around the world, winning championship after championship and becoming a larger-than-life hero, and in 2004, he was ranked by the CBC as the 39th greatest Canadian in history. At the same time, though, he's also officially an American citizen €“ Helen Hart, matriarch of the Hart family, was born on Long Island, New York, meaning her U.S. citizenship extends to Bret (and the rest of her children). While Bret can never run for president, he can come and go in the U.S. as he pleases, and enjoy all the rights our nation has to offer, like socialized medicine. Hey, wait a minute€ If nothing else, it certainly paints the anti-American Hart Foundation run from 1997 in a different light, as the only non-U.S. citizen in the group was Davey Boy Smith.
