It's a well-documented fact that Mankind ended up gifting 'The Phenom' with some of his first truly great matches, but in the midst of the conversations about their Buried Alive and Hell In A Cell collisions, one match that often gets overlooked is their WWE Championship bout at In Your House: Revenge of the Taker.

Reigniting their rivalry just as 'The Lord of Darkness' won the WWE Title, it didn't need a lot of build because of their history but that didn't stop the creative team from fueling that fire - literally - by having the unhinged superstar burn 'Taker's face. And with that serving as another solid foundation, a thoroughly entertaining championship match was born.

Fully released from the shackles of his undead gimmick, Undertaker's career was really beginning to hit its stride at this point, and it showed. He still maintained that intimidation factor, yes, but he did so while performing with the agility of a cruiserweight - and this lent itself nicely to the all-or-nothing approach that he and Mankind both adopted whenever they were in the ring together.

One of 'Taker's best title defenses ever, it was a hard-fought battle made all the more compelling by the burned face angle, as it seemed that each of 'Taker's punches were landing that much harder, and the steel steps spot - in which 'Taker hit Foley with the steps, sending him off the apron and headfirst into the announce table - is nothing short of awe-inspiring.
