4. Vs. Randy Orton - SmackDown (16 September 2005)
'Taker's long-running feud with Randy Orton produced a number of great offerings, as much of the WWE Universe couldn't help but notice how well the veteran and the young upstart's styles complemented each other. Among their legendary bouts is a WrestleMania classic (one of 'Taker's first truly great 'Mania matches), their Handicap Casket Match (with Bob Orton) and their violent Hell In A Cell feud-finisher. One, however, that often gets lost in all that praise is their TV showdown on SmackDown in September of 2005.
As the feud had evolved to include Cowboy Bob, the long-running story was more about both Ortons' desperate desire to slay 'The Deadman' than it was about Randy himself and that allowed them to revisit the original feud in a singles match on SmackDown.
A match that relied heavily on storytelling, this was a rare example of how great action can eclipse even that because the crowd lapped up everything the superstars threw at each other. Yes, the pair put on a contest so high quality that it would have been at home on PPV (and even bested some of the collisions that were).
