After having been left off WWE programming for the better part of 2012, Drew McIntyre resorted to NXT to hone his craft, which ended up being the best thing for him. He mixed it up with the greatest athletes the up-and-coming brand had to offer, including Seth Rollins.

Yes, the former WWE and TNA World Heavyweight champions did once cross paths on NXT in the summer of 2012. It was in the opening round of the NXT Championship Tournament, and although McIntyre was an early favourite to come out on top with the title in tow, he first had to overcome one of NXT's hottest top prospects.

Until arriving in TNA, McIntyre didn't typically receive the credit he deserved for being so sound in the ring, and that was on full display when he and Rollins locked up. It was an exhilarating affair with both men putting forth an incredible effort in an attempt to put the other away, but only after a crushing Curb Stomp did Rollins reign supreme, scoring the biggest win of his career up to that point.

Although McIntyre is currently under contract to TNA, a rematch between these two must be in order considering how far each of them have come since then.
