Members: John Cena, CM Punk and Big E.

When: 2013

...TA-DA!

John Cena, CM Punk and Big E in the same pic performing The Shield's trademark fist pose. The above is taken from the Christmas-themed 23 December 2013 edition of Raw. There, Cena, Punk and E combined to take on The Shield in the main event, and they'd vowed to get the job done/eradicate this menace for good.

Naturally, they didn't. WWE knew they were onto a good thing with The Shield, and they were going to ride it out until turning Seth in mid-2014. It should be noted, however, that working with Cena and E was the last time Punk looked truly happy in the company before his departure. He's put that right since returning in 2023.

Technically, Cena, Punk and E weren't a faction for longer than one show, but if A.P.P.L.E scores a place on this list and counts then so do they. Backstage promos, grandiose promises, a pose (albeit one that poked fun at The Shield) and more? Yeah, this was a stable no matter how fleeting.
