10 Former Cruiserweight Champions: Where Are They Now?
5. Paul London
Along with Brian Kendrick, Paul London is one of the longest-reigning WWE Tag Team Champions of all-time. 2006-7 wasn’t exactly a golden era for tag wrestling in WWE, but the dynamic duo were an exciting in-ring tandem who never failed to entertain between the ropes, and their reign lasted a credible 331 days.
Before London became a decorated tag team wrestler, he was a Cruiserweight Champion. London defeated six other men on a March 2005 edition of SmackDown to win the belt, and he held it for four months before eventually relinquishing to Nunzio. He feuded primarily with The Mexicools (Juventud Guerrera, Psicosis, and Super Crazy) during this time, and was released from his WWE contract in 2008.
London is one of the few wrestlers on this list who still plays a prominent role on the worldwide indy circuit. Wrestling extensively for PWG immediately following his release, London reunited with his former partner Kendrick on a number of occasions, and even became a PWG Tag Team Champion alongside Sami Zayn (then wrestling as El Generico). Though he’s been vocally critical of WWE since his release, WWE could do a lot worse than bring London back for their Cruiserweight revival, particularly as he continues making sporadic appearances across the globe.
