Ricochet was already one of the best wrestlers in the world when he signed on for the first season of Lucha Underground in 2014 (having been known for his work in EVOLVE, PWG and New Japan Pro-Wrestling), but joining the upstart promotion to further hone his skills as a performer was simply the icing on the cake.

It seemed like a strange move for Lucha Underground to put a mask on him seeing as he's a good-looking guy, but it didn't hurt his appeal to the audience whatsoever. He was positioned as the promotion's top star from the beginning and earned the honor of being the first-ever Lucha Underground champion.

His reign saw him set back challenges from Cage, Fenix, King Cuerno and Johnny Mundo. He could have very easily stayed content with what he accomplished early on for the remainder of his run, but instead, he continued to pump out phenomenal performances and went out on a high note on the Season 3 finale following an amazing outing with Pentagon Jr.

It had been heavily rumored for years that Ricochet was on WWE's radar, and once he was contractually free, he finally signed on the dotted line with NXT at the onset of 2018. In under two years, he's already held the NXT North American and WWE United States Championships, in addition to making the main roster and winning the 2019 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

Sky is the limit for the inaugural Lucha Underground champion in WWE.
