10 Former WWE Stars Who Deserve Another Shot

7. Trent Barreta

Hey look, it's one half of The Dude Busters, otherwise known as WWE ECW's young hopefuls who went on to do exactly nothing of note on SmackDown. Was that the fault of Trent Barreta and Caylen Croft though? Not quite. They can't be blamed for struggling when creative's big idea was a feud with Curt Hawkins and Vance Archer on Superstars.

Since that 2009-13 tag-team-turned-enhancement-talent nightmare, Barreta has relaunched his career outside WWE in places like ROH, PWG and (most notably) New Japan.

In the latter, he's become a four-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Champ alongside Rocky Romero in Roppongi Vice and looked very much like he's enjoying wrestling again. If there's any former ECW alumni who deserves another shot, it's Trent. He has so much more to offer than WWE ever let him show before.

Barreta, who's still only 31 years old, would be ideal for NXT. At under 200lbs, he'd also be a nice addition to the 205 Live ranks and represent a fresh challenge for current Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy if WWE would prefer that instead.
