10 Genius Ways Wrestlers Outsmarted Their Opponents
7. Eddie Guerrero – SmackDown 2005
Eddie Guerrero put in thrilling performances right up until the end of his life. His last match before his untimely death took place on SmackDown in November 2005 against Mr. Kennedy. In a lot of ways it was the perfect send-off for Guerrero’s character. He entertained the fans hugely one last time.
Eddie was renowned for his “Lie, Cheat, and Steal” motto, antics he played up to in in-ring competition, no better exemplified than this singles match. Eddie was the babyface going into this match so fans loved his tricks throughout. Towards the end of the match Eddie reversed Kennedy right into the referee, sending him crashing to the mat. Eddie quickly rolled to the outside and grabbed a steel chair, insinuating he was going to smack Kennedy with it.
He got back in the ring and hit the chair hard directly on the mat, then throwing it to Kennedy who caught it in a confused daze. Eddie immediately dropped to the mat as the referee got back up to his feet. The crowd went nuts as Kennedy pleaded his innocence that he never used the chair as Eddie clenched his head. The referee awarded Eddie the victory by disqualification. Eddie’s mischievous smile after the match is the last moment fans got of Latino Heat.
