10 Gimmick Matches WWE Should NEVER Book Again

5. Stairs Match

OK, scratch that.

In 2014, the company decided they needed something a little extra to sell the December pay-per-view. Someone (curse them) piped up in a creative team meeting to say that maybe the steel steps attached to the ring should get some spotlight. Thus, 'Tables, Ladders, Chairs and Stairs' was born.

The braintrust also settled on Big Show and Erick Rowan as the perfect pair to make this lame idea work. If you're even slightly intrigued by what happened next, don't be. Show and Rowan struggled to make their stair-laden battle soar. They can't be blamed for that. Even Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles would've toiled.

Fans in Cleveland rightly rejected the notion that two big dudes lumping around the ringside steps was a worthwhile attraction. This was a failed experiment that somehow made the sorry Chairs Match idea seem slightly less egregious. Only slightly though.
