If only there was a single word we could say to sum up how we feel about this...

Ron Simmons, known as Faarooq during Attitude Era WWF, holds a special place in wrestling history.

In 1992, Simmons captured the WCW Championship, becoming the first African-American in history to be recognised as a wrestling world champion.

Simmons' barrier-breaking title win was sadly not enough to earn himself much of a singles run in the WWF, where he was most substantially used as part of The Nation of Domination and The Acolytes.

Despite appearing at six different WrestleManias, Ron Simmons only ever appeared in tag team matches or battle royals. His win-loss record isn't that great either, with a six-man victory over Right To Censor at WrestleMania X-Seven being the only 'Mania win to his name.

For whatever reason, the WWF never saw Faarooq as a singles guy. He was always part of a faction or a team and never got a chance to shine in one-on-one competition, even as leader of the Nation. This might explain why he's a three-time tag team champion, but held no singles gold in the WWF.

Despite this, Simmons' legacy will live on always, thanks to his boundary-shattering world title win and his memorable one-word catchphrase.
