Though they'd never admit it, WWE copied WCW's homework a lot.

Alongside the cruiserweight division, monthly pay-per-views, and the concept of WrestleMania, the House of McMahon sometimes just transplanted entire feuds from Atlanta - including this one between Chris Benoit and Booker T.

The Crippler and GI Bro first clashed as singles stars over the Television Championship in 1998, before Benoit cost Booker the belt against Fit Finlay. This led to a best-of-seven series to determine the title's next contender, which was won by the future King of the Ring.

WWE liked this idea so much that, seven years later, they did it again.

After a United States Championship bout between the two ended in controversy, the belt was held up and a new best-of-seven series was announced to crown a new champion. Benoit fought his way back from a 3-0 deficit, mainly because Booker chose Randy Orton to be his stand-in after suffering an injury.

Mr. Sharmell was healthy enough to compete in the final match, which took place on SmackDown in January 2006, defeating Benoit to regain the title and once again prove his superiority in this format.
