10 Great Wrestling Moments That Not Enough People Have Seen

7. Bulldog Ian YouTube

Wrestling Twitter rascal Ian curates a fabulous YouTube playlist that seeks to highlight the incredibly specific brilliance - and ugliness - of the industry's most endearing and awful cult figures.

He has a particular fascination with the British Bulldog and his inscrutable whims. Famously, the Bulldog once described himself as "bizarre", and that moment is beloved for its jarring quality, because he isn't bizarre, at least not on the surface. The Bulldog was a fabulous, no-nonsense hard c*nt not without a certain technical flair in the ring, but he also sported some crackers hairstyles and talked a lot of absolute sh*te in his time.

Perhaps bizarre is right.

There's a certain duality within the Bulldog, and it is exemplified quite wonderfully here. A not-great promo, traditionally, the Bulldog was gruff and not remotely smooth, which is why it's absolutely fantastic to feast on the dissonance in this one.

Bulldog, who could barely string a sentence together, somehow capably emulates a Muhammad Ali/Billy Graham/Dusty Rhodes-style spiel, and what's most wonderful are his eyes as he nails "knees freeze" - even he is surprised, and charmingly, delighted, that he got 'em.
