The words "Doink The Clown vs. Mr. Perfect" above will surely raise some eyebrows, but their feud must be considered a real missed opportunity for the WWF in 1993. The deceptively technical clown and Perfect had three pristine bouts in May of that year on both Raw and Wrestling Challenge.

They proved that Doink was more than just a gimmick.

He and the always-slick Curt Hennig went to two time limit draws in back-to-back King Of The Ring qualifying matches. Then, on the 24 May episode of Raw, they had their blow off and Perfect secured his berth in the upcoming tournament. Meanwhile, Doink had more credibility than ever before for hanging with someone so respected.

Rather than revisiting this blossoming and competitive rivalry after KOTR, the WWF put Perfect in the Intercontinental Title scene and Doink subbed for Jerry Lawler against Bret Hart. Neither situation could match what they'd achieved together.
