In the build to 2019’s excellent Raw vs SmackDown vs NXT edition of Survivor Series, Becky Lynch paid a visit to her old black and gold stomping ground. The Raw Women’s Champion was there to issue an open challenge, though she had a particular opponent in mind - Shayna Baszler.

She called out the former MMA fighter, but instead an altogether more intriguing NXT star emerged - Rhea Ripley. Contrasting Ripley’s fortunes now and then is somewhat distressing. Here she was presented as a colossal star, getting cheered over the amazingly popular Lynch and proving that she could hang with one of the division’s best.

The two go blow for blow here, Lynch using her speed and striking ability to counteract Ripley’s power. Unsurprisingly, the onus is on protecting both, and eventually the match is scrapped when Baszler and her crew rush the ring to batter both women.

The tables are quickly turned, though, and Lynch and Ripley combine forces to neutralise the threat. Hopefully they’ll meet again somewhere down the line - this had a ton of potential.
