10 Great WWE Matches That Didn't Have A Finish
4. Rey Mysterio vs Shawn Michaels - Smackdown 01/29/2010
Here’s a lovely, simple bit of booking. Rey Mysterio was number one contender for Undertaker’s Heavyweight Championship. Shawn Michaels, still smarting over his WrestleMania XXV loss and obsessing over the Deadman, proposed that Mysterio couldn’t win. The luchadore took umbrage, and the two decided to settle their differences in the ring.
They’re two of the best ever to do it and not a pairing we’ve seen a thousand times - of course this was a great bit of business. Shawn and Rey go at top speed throughout, with moves and counters flying. Shawn scurries out of the way of a 619, Rey reverses a slam into a Hurricanrana. We get a great, underrated Sweet Chin Music outta nowhere as Rey springboards off the top.
Then, Batista comes in to ruin everything, smashing both men. As Triple H chases him off, the two consider restarting the match, until the lights go out, a gong sounds, and moments later an especially hammy Undertaker hoists both superstars for a double chokeslam. All that in about 15 minutes.
