It's some measure of the quality of SummerSlam 2002 that the event featured two forgotten classics - this one having been quite deliberately lost from the annals of WWE.

Which is a shame, because it featured two of the company's brightest stars of the early 2000s, each of them grateful for the opportunity to be put in the ring with an adversary of equal standing (and, a rarity on this list, the time to deliver the sort of show-stealing match of which they were capable).

Like Rey and Angle, Benoit and RVD saw their efforts out-stripped by the event's two closing matches, but - given the somewhat low-key build and its placing on the card (slap-bang in the middle of an exceptionally stacked show) - it was a genuinely terrific bout.
