Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho were both on fire in 2000, especially when they happened to be in the ring at the same time.

By SummerSlam, their rivalry had become so intense that it couldn't be settled with a single fall - so they tried a best of three match instead, and there was only one winner: the fans (and also Chris Benoit, who scored a 2-1 victory).

Whilst some matches of this kind tend to feel a little contrived - a byproduct of having to cram three (or at least two) falls into a period in which you'd normally only see the one - this time it worked, thanks to the use of submission maneuvers and a snatch-and-grab roll-up pin over traditional finishers.

Ideally, you'd want two stars like this headlining the show, not languishing its mid-card, but there was the small matter of a Triple H-Kurt Angle-Rock three-way in the night's main event spot.
