Without them, people would just be feuding over spilt coffee, or constantly tangled in some sort of love triangle. Belts represent a legitimate reason for pro wrestling as a competition. Over the years, however, certain titles gain and lose prestige.

Impact Wrestling has undergone a tumultuous start to 2017. Management decided to drop the 'TNA' moniker, and now there's been a full merger with Jeff Jarrett's Global Force Wrestling.

Bringing MMA legitimacy to the main event, Impact may have been hoping for a Lesnar-esque draw (on a smaller scale, naturally) as their Heavyweight champion. It hasn't exactly panned out that way - but Lashley is still an athletic freak.

So far in 2017, Lashley has seen off former champions Eddie Edwards and Jeff Hardy. Some might say he lost some prestige by losing to El Patron via shenanigans, and he maybe could have done without the Josh Barnett match.
