9. Axl Rotten Vs Ian Rotten

These two bloodthirsty maniacs might be the most convincing kayfabe brothers ever seen in wrestling. While Axl and Ian were not related, the former served as a mentor to the latter, and their physique and penchant for ultraviolence made them an easy sell as a pair of Rotten boys.

They came to prominence in ECW as Bad Breed, a popular tag team, and worked the division from 1993 to early 1995. It was when the team split up that the fun began.

Bad Breed parted as a stipulation following a loss, and Ian and Axl turned on one another. It was said that the two had genuinely fallen out, and from watching their matches, you can certainly believe it. The Rottens were big on the E part of ECW, and competed in a collection of horrifying bouts, utilising barbed wire baseball bats, and culminating in a Taipei deathmatch, wherein both men had broken glass glued to their fists.

It’s not for the faint of heart, but these were boundary pushing bouts for an American audience. Neither Rotten was the best technical wrestler, but they were willing to take a shard of glass to the face, so there’s that.
