10 Greatest Family Feuds In Wrestling History
6. Triple H Vs Stephanie McMahon
The ballad of Triple H and Stephanie McMahon is one of wrestling’s great love stories. From a kayfabe union between the two blossomed real affection, and now the pair are married with kids, and the heirs apparent to a billion-dollar company.
In storyline, though, things haven’t always been so rosy. The Invasion angle saw the McMahon clan gain significant TV time, and Stephanie’s ownership of ECW put her at odds with avowed company man HHH.
Wrestling is often said to be a soap opera at its core, and that was certainly the case here, with fake pregnancies, a bitter divorce battle, and a new man on the scene making up one of the big angles of 2002. Steph sided with former foe Chris Jericho and the two conspired to bring down the recently returned Game.
HHH and Steph have superb chemistry and milked this story for all it was worth. It didn’t work out well for everyone (i.e Jericho, the third wheel in his own WrestleMania main event), the storytelling here was distinct, adult, and well performed, which is more than you can say for a lot of soaps.
