Mark Calaway and Glenn Jacobs may not be related, but their career paths have intertwined for so much of their careers that they might as well be, and extended periods together have forged a strong connection between two titans of the industry.

Indeed, Kane was initially intended to serve only a brief tenure in WWE, to menace Undertaker as a mysterious figure from his past before disappearing once the feud was done. The two worked so well together, and the character was so perfectly presented, that he stuck around, becoming one of the industry’s longest serving stars.

The two have feuded time and again, but it’s hard to top the first iteration. Kane’s debut is probably wrestling’s finest, interrupting the inaugural Hell In A Cell match between Shawn Michaels and ‘Taker and busting his way into the cage.

From there, the story took in the mythology of the two characters and patiently worked its way to a hotly anticipated ‘Mania match. While most wrestling plot is discarded once the angle is done, WWE writers have returned to the Brothers of Destruction saga time and again. It’s a true sports entertainment epic.
