First things first, don't even think about mentioning Rocco the dummy. That was totally unnecessary, and I resent myself for even bringing it up here.

Whilst not exactly doing a whole lot together in the WWF/E, Paul Ellering and the Road Warriors were closely associated during their tenure in the AWA, New Japan Pro Wrestling and the NWA.

In fact, the Road Warriors 'Legion of Doom' moniker in the WWF/E came from Ellering's stable of the same name in Georgia Championship Wrestling.

Uniquely, Ellering not only managed the duo onscreen but also took care of management duties outside the ring. He was responsible for managing expenses, organising hotel rooms, sorting out flights and all other basic pro wrasslin' admin. Paul Ellering was the Road Warriors' manager in every sense of the word.

The trio were so iconic that when Hawk and Animal were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2011, Ellering went in with them. Rocco was nowhere to be found, mind.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
