Okay, so not technically a pairing, but no manager/wrestler list would be complete without mentioning J.J. Dillion and the Four Horsemen. This was the original set up for the group, with Dillon acting as something of a strategic advisor to messrs. Flair, Blanchard and the cousins Anderson.

Much like Ellering and the Road Warriors in the real world, Dillon was responsible for keeping the hectic world of the Four Horsemen together outside the ring.

This was always a nice element to the professional wrestling manager way back when, that the term 'manager' meant more than just 'shout instructions from ringside'.

Dillon did his fair share of that nonetheless, acting as a real nuisance to whichever hero stood up to try and take the NWA World Heavyweight Championship from the grasp of Ric Flair.

Dillon was so good in his role that the initial question of why the Horsemen would need a manager in the first place never resurfaced.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
