This years Hell in a Cell pay-per-view will of course be headlined by the rubber match in the ongoing Brock Lesnar vs. Undertaker feud. But these two are going to have a tough time outshining their previous meeting inside the structure, which took place at No Mercy 2002 some 13 years ago. Prior to this match, thered been eight Hell in a Cell matches in WWE history, and Taker had featured in five of them. Lesnar meanwhile, was just six months into to his WWE careerthough he was already WWE Champion. Depite the gold around his waist though, Lesnar still had plenty to prove. And who better than the Undertaker to do that against, and where better than in Hell in a Cell? It was the ultimate rookie vs. veteran affair. Much of the match centred around the protective cast that Taker wore on his wrist. It acted as both a blessing and a curse; an easy target for Lesnars offence, but also a weapon in desperate times. In fact, Undertaker used the cast to bust Brock open, just minutes into the match. That wound was nothing though on the laceration that Taker soon had himselfblood was simply gushing from his brow after Lesnar had struck him with the steps. It was actually hard to watch at times, but both men still kept going until the bitter end, when a typically freakish show of strength from Lesnar saw him literally toss the Undertaker onto his shoulders and deliver a debilitating F-5. Lesnar then pinned his foe to the bloodstained canvass to pick up the 1-2-3, before scaling the cage and standing tall with the title hoisted above his head. Not a bad way to confirm your status as the Next Big Thing in wrestling.
