10 Greatest WWE Intercontinental Champions Of All Time

1. Randy Savage

Numbers one and two might be a bit of a surprise to some, but Randy Savage's solitary Intercontinental Championship places him at number eight in the ranks of days with the title. If that wasn't incredible enough (his single reign lasted longer than Jericho's nine combined), Macho Man provided the fans with a good look at what the main event star could bring to the IC title.

The Macho Man was the next huge star coming up behind Hulk Hogan. With the Intercontinental Championship over his shoulder for over a year, the legend of Savage grew to the point where he was being cheered raucously by fans despite his heelish antics and mistreatment of Miss Elizabeth.

Savage's run with the Intercontinental strap came to an end in a legendary match at WrestleMania III against Ricky Steamboat, but history was yet to be made for Macho Man. Randy became the first man to go from IC to world level when he won a tournament for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania IV, which he then held for over a year, setting an example of the secondary belt's power for building new stars.
