Jack Swagger and ECW on Sci Fi. Neither of these two things are synonymous with great wrestling matches, but the brand's 23rd February, 2009 episode presented 'The All-American American' at his absolute best, with the recently returned Christian helping Swagger to one of the strongest matches of his career.

Christian had set his sights on Jack's ECW Championship immediately after returning, but it took until April's Backlash pay-per-view before he was able to take the title. Nonetheless, he made Swagger look like a million dollars during the first encounter. His selling was world-class throughout, and while Jack's work on top wasn't entirely convincing, Christian's sympathetic performance helped present the ECW Champion as a killer.

That's not to say Swagger was a dud, though. He was constantly undermined throughout his WWE career, but would likely be remembered a lot more fondly if not for his atrocious World Heavyweight Title run. Regardless, this match's success shone primarily for his opponent's performance, and while their Backlash rematch was strong, it didn't get meet the standards of the first bout, which stands as one of ECW On Sci Fi's best.
