10 Hidden WCW Gems To Watch On WWE Network

8. Eddie Guerrero Vs. Jushin Liger: WCW Saturday Night, 15 June 1996

Eddie Guerrero and Jushin Liger are two of the all-time best junior heavyweight wrestlers, and on 15 June 1996, WCW fans got to see the pair square off on an episode of WCW Saturday Night.

The pair had a far superior match in the final of Best of the Super Juniors 1996 - Guerrero in his Black Tiger guise emerging victorious on that night - but this brief five-minute WCW contest is worth hunting down purely to see these two in a North American setting.

The action is slick, smooth, and engaging. For the most part, Liger dominates his opponent, and it's also notable to see just how much the in-attendance crowd is into Eddie in this contest - a signal that fans were ready to get hugely behind Eddie way before his push to the top of WWE eight years later.

In typical babyface fashion, Guerrero managed to survive the assault of Liger before hitting him with a Frog Splash. And for those watching back in 1996, it was maybe just a little surprising to see Eddie getting the W over someone who had already cemented their status as a pro wrestling icon. Then again, Guerrero was a full-time WCW guy by this point, and he was due to challenge for Ric Flair's United States Championship later that summer.
